Bethel grad Evans plays in Virginia loss

Bethel High School graduate Jontel Evans scored three points as the University of Virginia bowed 75-56 to North Carolina State University in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals on Friday, March 15, at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C., Virginia's website reported.

Evans also recorded three rebounds, seven assists and two steals for the Cavaliers, who wound up at 24-9 on the season..

Evans played as a senior guard for the University of Virginia. He is a 2009 graduate of Bethel High School in Hampton, where he lettered three times in basketball as a point guard for head coach Craig Brehon. The anthropology major from Hampton is the son of Walter and Trina Evans.
