Two suspects arrested for murder on Homestead Avenue

The Hampton Police Division arrested two suspects involved in a homicide that occurred Jan. 4.

According to a press release, "At 7:54 p.m., Hampton Police Communications received a 911 call in reference to shooting in the 600 block of Homestead Avenue. Upon officers arrival, they located an adult male victim, James Terrell Williams, a 24-year-old Hampton man, who suffered from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Members of the Hampton Fire and Rescue Division responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

"The investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the 600 block of Homestead Avenue when he was approached by two suspects. A physical altercation ensued between the suspects and the victim when the victim was shot. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with this incident. A 16-year-old Hampton male juvenile and an 18-year-old Hampton man have been charged with one count of murder, one count of robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Both suspects were juveniles at the time of the incident. The 16-year-old suspect remains in custody at Newport News Secure Detention and the 18-year-old suspect is in custody at the Hampton City Jail."
