Bethel grad Meredith plays in Christopher Newport loss

Bethel High School graduate Paul Meredith scored eight points, but Christopher Newport University lost 72-69 at home to conference rival Greensboro College on Feb. 2 at Freeman Center in Newport News, the Christopher Newport website reported.

The Christopher Newport University junior also recorded one rebound, three assists and a steal for the Captains, who are 15-3 on the season and 8-2 in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Christopher Newport's next game is 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at home against Virginia Wesleyan College.

Meredith is a 2008 graduate of Bethel High School, where he played basketball. As a senior (2007-08) Meredith averaged 10 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals per game while serving as team captain. He was named all-Peninsula third-team and garnered a spot in the Peninsula vs. South District all-star game. Born Jan. 16, 1990 the son of Paul and Christine Meredith, he is majoring in communications at Christopher Newport University. Meredith is from Hampton.
