Phoebus grad Hamilton contributes to Hampton victory

Phoebus High School graduate Nicole Hamilton scored seven points in Hampton University's 81-60 win over conference rival Morgan State on Feb. 2 at Hill Field House in Baltimore, the Hampton website reported.

The Hampton University sophomore guard also recorded five rebounds, six assists and four blocks to help the Pirates improve to 17-5 on the season and a perfect 8-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

Hampton's next game is 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at Coppin State.

Hamilton is a 2010 graduate of Phoebus High School where she played basketball for coaches William Brooks and Barbara Burgess. As a senior (2009-10) Hamilton averaged 15.8 points per game to earn MVP honors. She was also team MVP in 2008-09 as a junior when she averaged 14 points per contest. In 2007-08 as a sophomore Hamilton played in 18 games for Phoebus' varsity team averaging 10.2 points per outing and she was also MVP of the junior varsity team. She was JV MVP in 2006-07 as a freshman. Born Sept. 13 1990 the daughter of Yolanda Hamilton and Johnnie Thompson she plans to major in recreation at Hampton University. Hamilton is from Hampton.
