History Under Our Feet to take place at Hampton History Museum

A family event called History Under Our Feet will take place Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hampton History Museum.

According to a press release, "The day's activities include visiting archaeologists from the Fairfield Foundation who are bringing artifacts for children to clean, sort and help repair. ... To illustrate how much of what we discover about the past is through discarded material, Sarah Heinsman will lead children in a trash pit demonstration to create layers of materials representing years of accumulated material. Afterward, children can play archaeologist using tools of the trade to uncover the 'artifacts' from the different layers of history."

The cost is free for museum members and $2 for nonmembers.

The Hampton History Museum is located at 120 Old Hampton Lane, Hampton.
