Bethel grad Evans contributes to Virginia victory
Bethel High School graduate Jontel Evans of the University of Virginia scored six points in a 56-36 win over conference rival Florida State Saturday, Jan. 19, at JPJA in Charlottesville, the Virginia website reported.
Evans also recorded five rebounds, seven assists and a steal for the Cavaliers, who improved to 12-5 on the season and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Virginia's next game is 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at Virginia Tech.
Evans is a senior guard for University of Virginia. He is a 2009 graduate of Bethel High School in Hampton, where he lettered three times in basketball as a point guard for head coach Craig Brehon. The anthropology major from Hampton is the son of Walter and Trina Evans.
