Phoebus grad Hamilton scores 12 points in Hampton victory

Phoebus High School graduate Nicole Hamilton scored 12 points in Hampton University's 61-58 win over American University on Sunday, Jan. 6, according to Hampton University's website.

The junior guard also recorded nine rebounds, five assists and two steals for the Pirates, who improved to 11-5 on the season.

Hampton's next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at home against Howard University.

Hamilton is a 2010 graduate of Phoebus High School where she played basketball for coaches William Brooks and Barbara Burgess. As a senior, Hamilton averaged 15.8 points per game to earn MVP honors. She was also team MVP as a junior when she averaged 14 points per contest. As a sophomore, Hamilton played in 18 games for Phoebus' varsity team, averaging 10.2 points per outing and she was also MVP of the junior varsity team. She was JV MVP as a freshman. Hamilton, who is from Hampton, plans to major in recreation at Hampton University.
