Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Conference and Banquet scheduled for Jan. 26

The 11th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Conference and Banquet, sponsored by The Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Southeast Community Day Planning Committee, will be held Saturday, Jan. 26 at the SpringHill Suites in Hampton.

According to a press release, "The conference will begin with the Southeast CARES Project at 1 p.m., followed by a community forum at 3 p.m., hosted by Tina Vick, Newport News city council member. The Andrew Shannon gospel music celebration will start at 5 p.m. and the social begins at 6 p.m. Banquet will begin at 7 p.m. with Rev. William Keen, president of the Virginia State Unit of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference serving as the keynote speaker. All conference events are free and open to the public with the exception of the donation for social and banquet, which must be obtained by Friday, Jan. 18."

Tickets are not required, but a donation is suggested.

The SpringHill Suites is located at 1997 Power Plant Parkway, Hampton.
